The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Senior Insurance Specialist to join a highly regarded team on a 9-month fixed-term contract. You’ll play a critical role in managing complex claims and acting as the trustee delegate for approving decisions and payments. Your work will support both internal teams and superannuation members navigating life-changing events.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and assess complex claims, including Total Permanent Disability (TPD), Income Protection (IP), Death, Terminal Illness, Family Law, and Early Release payments.
- Act as the Trustee Delegate , responsible for approving claim decisions and payments.
- Assess and manage applications for insurance cover, including underwriting decisions.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and external partners.
- Investigate and resolve complex and escalated insurance queries with clarity and empathy.
- Draft comprehensive reports and recommendations for senior leadership and relevant committees.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in insurance processes, procedures, and systems.
- Complete administrative functions including reconciliations and quality assurance checks.
You bring a depth of experience and confidence in managing insurance matters in a superannuation context, including:
- Demonstrated experience in insurance claims management, ideally within superannuation.
- Strong understanding of group life insurance, including definitions and investigative approaches.
- Advanced knowledge of superannuation legislation, regulations, and trust deed interpretation.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage sensitively with stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and sound judgment.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to mentor others.
