About the Role
We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design, build, and scale AI-powered solutions that drive clinical and operational intelligence. This role combines deep technical AI/ML expertise with a product-focused mindset. You’ll work across the full lifecycle of AI development, from prototyping and prompt engineering through to secure, production-grade deployment.
Reporting to the Director of Data & AI, you will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and clinical experts to deliver solutions that are safe, explainable, and impactful in real-world use cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and optimise LLM-driven features that enable summarisation, information extraction, and workflow automation
- Build scalable frameworks for prompt engineering, context management and RAG pipelines
- Develop machine learning models for prediction, anomaly detection, and regression models for clinical applications
- Leverage structured and unstructured datasets to design features and train robust models
- Integrate ML/AI services into core applications using modern cloud and containerised deployment methods
- Establish monitoring and guardrails to ensure models remain safe and reliable
- Strengthen engineering practices by contributing to reviews, documentation, and technical design
- 5+ years deep Machine Learning experience, including 2+ years building LLM-powered applications, and ability to deliver AI/ML solutions into user-facing products
- Advanced Python development skills (eg FastAPI, Flask)
- Hands-on expertise with open-source LLM tooling (eg LangChain, LlamaIndex) and RAG pipeline development
- Solid knowledge of AWS cloud services and containerised deployment (eg Docker, ECS, Lambda)
- Experience implementing monitoring and evaluation for LLMs and ML models (e.g. Langfuse)
- Proven knowledge of semantic search, embeddings, and vector databases
- Domain experience in healthcare or medical NLP preferred
- $180,000-$200,000 base + super
- Super flexible model, 1 day onsite in Sydney
